Today as I sat outside drinking Sunday morning coffee and contemplating the day ahead, the wind was blowing and dark storm clouds hovered over the Western skies. In the East, the Sun was making its ascent as it created a new day here on Earth, surrounded completely on that half of the sky by a pale blue, cloudless panorama.

Some mild drizzling of rain started and I realized this was prime weather for a rainbow to appear. As I wandered around seeking the colorful arch, I thought about how inner storms and Light coexist inside of us all. Mother Nature sets a great example of how we can merge these two aspects of ourselves into One, and in so doing transform our life into a whole new beautiful creation.

Storms Inside of Us

When the storm of negative emotion arises in us, it isn’t “bad” for us to have these feelings. It’s simply an indication that something is not right in our world. We need to change in some way. This could be a shift in our actions, our perceptions, or what we’re accepting into our lives. The key is to use whatever triggered the storm in the first place to rise up into something better. How do we do this?

We can utilize the sunlight of our Souls to shed Light on the situation.

Light It Up: Be Honest About What You’re Feeling

If a situation is making us angry, fearful, jealous, or filled with shame, pretending that everything is “all right” is the last thing that we should do. Instead, we can evaluate the why: why are we feeling used, under-appreciated, guilty, discarded? Being authentic about what is truly happening allows for the possibility of shifting the storm of negative feelings into something better.

Own Your Half of the Sky: Set Some Boundaries

These are lines in the sand that you aren’t going to let others cross without consequences. Be clear about what these consequences are when communicating with others – and also remember that each time we set a boundary for others, it’s helpful to set one for ourselves too. This helps ensure that standing up for ourselves doesn’t cross the line into self-righteous behavior. If we’re asking someone to help more with a task, for example, we can make sure we’re fulfilling our part of the shared responsibility. Setting this guideline about how we’re going to act keeps us humble by reminding us that we are all works in progress.

New Creations: Let Your Inner Wisdom Guide You

Only you and your Creator know your true intentions, experiences, and mission in life. While outside opinions can always be considered, when we feel a storm arising inside of ourselves first and foremost we should choose to access the trinity powers of prayer, meditation, and intuition. By doing so, the storm we feel gets to unite with the Sun of our inner wisdom to birth new insights. These insights produce beautiful new rainbows of Light and color that uplift the world into a more inspiring and positive one – born from the space in which Storms and Suns collide.

Namaste,
